Terms & Definitions of AMT (Part-1)

Apparel/ Garment:
Personal outfits, garments, clothing or attire, including headwear and footwear made by fibrous or non-fibrous materials. It embraces non-clothing accessories such as jewellery, handbags and walking sticks as well.
or,
A shaped article of textile fabric, or other flexible sheet materials, intended to cover portions of the human body.
Fashion:
It refers to the kinds of clothing that are in a desirable style at a particular time. At different times in history, fashionable dress has taken very different forms. In modern times nearly everyone follows fashion to some extent.
Allowance:
When garment is made by adding extra dimension with the net dimension of the garment is called allowance.
Trimming and Accessories:
In Garment without fabric all are accessories. It includes:  thread, button,  interlining, zipper, main label, care label, tissue paper, ball head pin, silica gee bag etc.
Or,
A supplementary part or component of a sewing machine used to diversify its function.
A subsidiary item of dress, such as scarf, belt, gloves, umbrella etc.
Back Tacking:
Approximately 1cm or small stitch backward at the beginning and finishing of sewing and thus securing of the sewn end so that the thread could not be loosed easily.
Basic Block:
The pattern is made in accordance with the area of different part of the human body and their flexes and folds without allowance and styles.

Bartack:
To reinforce a seam with a bar of stitches that provides a more durable seam end. ( Commonly used at points of strain)
Or,
Re-stitching over a very short length to give and increase the area a high load  bearing strength. E.g. belt loops, pocket corners.
C.F. Line:
The straight line bottom to up vertically along the middle point of the body front of the shirt or jacket.
Collar:
It is a part of apparel, which stays spread around the neck.
Or,
Two or more thicknesses of fabric attached to the neck-hole opening.
Collar Stand:
It is a part of the collar which stands vertical along the neck.
Crease:
Any kind of folding in clothes.
Or,
A break or line in a fabric generally caused by a sharp fold. Creases may be either desirable or undesirable, depending upon the situation. A crease may be intentionally passed into a fabric by application of pressure and heat and sometimes moisture.
